The Defect Reports, General tab is used to create a Defect Report. Populate all mandatory and optional information.
The following information/options are available in this window: Defect History The Defect History Corrosion/Damage & Repair This button allows the user to view the Corrosion Damage and Repair window. This window deals with the aircraft's Corrosion/Damage & Repair which is part of the maintenance program, especially in cases of aging aircraft. For additional information, refer to the Corrosion/Damage & Repair Button, via the Defect Report Detail, General Tab, of the Defect Report of the Technical Records Training Manual. Defect Report P/N S/N Select this button to enter the Part Number/ Serial Number of the Component which was the root cause of the Defect. For additional information, refer to the Defect on P/N Button, via the Defect Report Detail, General tab of the Technical Records Training Manual. Delay/Cancellations Select the Delay/Cancellations Defect Type The type of defect found on the aircraft (for example, Pilot Report, MX Report). For additional information, refer to the Defect Type Transaction Code, via the Technical Records Transaction Code Manual.
Defect The defect number (or log book number). The Defect Number is typically the same number of the A/C log page.
An error message appears when a Defect is created using the same Defect Type, Defect and Item combination. Item The defect log item number.
QR Code The QR code allows users to pull up records using QR code scanner functionality via the applicable eMobility application. A/C The individual aircraft tail number. Chapter The ATA Chapter classification associated to the Defect Report. The chapters which appear for selection are those ATA Chapters which are flagged for Defect in the ATA Master. This Chapter/Section must have Alert levels set up in order for Recurrent Items to be created via the Reliability module. For more information, refer to the ATA Specifications via the Settings Training manual and Setting Up ATA Chapters and Sections via the Reliability Training Manual. Note: The ATA Chapter is carried over to the W/O Non-Routine Task Card, Optional 2 tab, as well as the W/O Task Card window when adding a Defect to an already existing Work Order. The Recurrent Alert will also be updated to reflect any changes made to the ATA Chapter when closing a defect. Section The specific Section of the ATA Chapter associated to the Defect Report. The Sections which appear for selection are those ATA Chapters which are flagged for Defect in the ATA Master. This Chapter/Section must have Alert levels set up in order for Recurrent Items to be created via the Reliability module. For additional information, refer to the ATA Master via the Settings Training manual and Setting Up ATA Chapters and Sections via the Reliability Training Manual.
Paragraph The ATA Chapter/Paragraph classification of the Defect. Note: Reliability will only record the four digit (chapter-section) items in most reports. ASC The Aircraft System Code.
Flight The inbound flight number associated with the Defect Report.
Gate The gate information for the flight. Reference Sequence Number The reference sequence number of this Defect.
CADOR Civil Aviation Discrepancy Occurrence Report. This is a number that is generated by Transport Canada and assigned to track IRs (Incident Reports) and SDRs (Service Difficulty Reports) that are reported. Status The current Status of the Defect Report log item. Open - This is the default status upon creating a Defect Report. 'Open' status may mean that the defect has a deferred schedule on the Defer tab. Closed - This means that there was a resolution for the Defect. The Defect was resolved. IFSD The Engine In-Flight Shut Down code (i.e. Foreign Object Debris, Lightning Strike). These codes can be set up via the Technical Records Transaction Codes. Go to Settings/ Explorer/ System Transaction Code/ Technical Records. Note: This field is only available for non-cabin defects. Therefore this field is only available when the Cabin checkbox in the Defect Type transaction code is not selected. MIS The Mechanical Interruption Summary related to this Defect. Note: When the MIS checkbox in the Defect Type Transaction Code is selected, the MIS field will be mandatory. If the checkbox is deselected, the MIS field will not be mandatory. SDR/MRR The Service Difficulty Report related to this Defect. For additional information, refer to the SDR Creation Button via Defect Report Detail Buttons.
Position The aircraft position of the item. Warranty checkbox Select this checkbox if the aircraft is associated with a warranty condition. This is informational only. Damage checkbox Select this checkbox if the aircraft is associated with a damaged condition. This is informational only. Damage checkbox Select this checkbox if the aircraft is associated with a damaged condition. This is informational only. Phase The Phase of the flight on which the Defect occurred. Defect Category The Defect Report's Category Code.
Reported By The employee that reported the defect. Reported Date The date the defect was reported.
Reported Time The reported time of the defect. Station The Station where the Defect was reported. Note: With Switch Authorization Defect requires further authorization. Internal Capability checkbox This checkbox indicates hat the work can be carried out internally as opposed to having a third party maintenance organization carry it out. This field is informational only. ASR radio button An Air Safety Report system notification will be generated and sent out. Note: The ASR System Notification must be set up prior to selecting the ASR radio button via the Defect Report window in order for the notification to be generated and sent out.
CI radio button Select this radio button to determine if the Defect Report is for a critical task. ETOPS radio button Select this radio button to determine if the Defect Report is for an aircraft that is specified as that with extended operations. CDCCL radio button Select this radio button to determine if the Defect Report is for an aircraft with a critical design configuration control limitation. Note: The selection of the CI, ETOPS, and CDCCL radio buttons is retained when the Defect Report is added to a Work Order with a Non-Routine Task Card through the Defect Report, a Work Order, or the A/C Planning Query. Making a selection for these radio buttons may be mandatory per the configuration of Switch Defect Description The description of the defect which describes the problem found or notes the service being performed. This field also works with the Defect Description Phrase Transaction code via the Technical Records Transaction Code manual.
Defect From W/O The originating W/O that the defect was created from. Note: This field is only visible if the defect report was created by the defect button via the W/O Detail window. For more information, refer to Defect Button, via Work Order Detail. Defect From T/C The originating T/C that the defect was created from. Note: This field is only visible if the defect report was created by the defect button via the W/O Detail window. For more information, refer to Defect Button, via Work Order Detail. FRM Fault Reporting Manual fields can be used to enter appropriate information (for reference) if required. RII Yes/No radio buttons Select Yes if this Defect will be a Required Inspection Item. When selected, the RII By field will appear so that the inspecting employee can be selected.
RII By - This will appear if the RII checkbox is checked. Enter the employee who must perform the inspection here. Estimated TAT The estimated turn around time. Ground Time Required The time required to complete the work for turnaround time estimates. The time format is user defined and can be minutes, hours or days. This field is informational. Paper Copy Required checkbox Select this checkbox to inform users and auditors that information related to this Defect Report has been printed and must be processed. This checkbox is selected by default. Reliability checkbox This checkbox helps trigger the Defect Report Reliability process. The checkbox must be selected in order for Recurrent Alert Items to be created when the Defect Report's Chapter/Section reaches a predefined alert schedule. For more information refer to Recurrent Items via the Reliability Training Manual. Note: Switch Note: The Recurrent Defect checkbox located within the Defect Type transaction code entered for the Defect Report must also be selected in order for Recurrent Alert Items to be created in the Reliability module. Further, if this checkbox is selected, the defect report item will impact Reliability Reports. If this checkbox is not selected, this defect report item will not appear on the Reliability Reports. Dispatch System Control Number This number is generated by the system and represents that the defect has been sent to SABRE for those customers with this interface. Task Card Template The Task Card Template reference to the Task Card from which the Non-Routine items will be created when the Defect is attached to the Work Order. Task Card Template The Task Card Template Recurrent Alert The number of recurrent alerts that have occurred and is associated with this Defect Report. Seat Number The passenger seat number on the aircraft. Note: This field only appears when the Cabin checkbox is selected via the Defect Type Transaction Code. For additional information, refer to the Defect Type Transaction Code via the Technical Records Transaction Code Manual. Seat Letter The passenger seat letter on the aircraft. Note: This field only appears when the Cabin checkbox is selected via the Defect Type Transaction Code. For additional information, refer to the Defect Type Transaction Code via the Technical Records Transaction Code Manual. Seat Severity The Seat Severity Code used to indicate the level of severity (i.e damage) of the seat. This can be selected from the list of Seat Severity Transaction Codes via the Technical Records System Transaction Codes. Note: This field only appears when the Cabin checkbox is selected via the Defect Type Transaction Code.
