P/N Software ConfigurationP/N Software Configuration functionality allows customers to manage the P/N software infrastructure for each aircraft, as configured by the A/C Type/Series. Hardware and software authorizations, revisions, current installations, and compliance records, all help to keep track of the aircraft's software configuration. The data that composes the P/N Software Configuration can be created manually, or loaded into they system via the Manufacturer Data Imports. The system's P/N Software Configuration was designed for Boeing-specific tools and schema in order to effectively integrate the 787's software necessities with classic TRAX maintenance procedures. The P/N Software Configuration window displays the software infrastructure as configured on the particular A/C Type/Series. From this window, users can delete, import, revise existing, and create new P/N Software Configurations. The following tabs and buttons are available:
When PNSOFTEC is set to No, the P/N software Configuration is tracked using a hardware P/N, Equipment Reference Designator (ERD), P/N Software, Software Location ID (SLID), and individual S/Ns installed on-wing. P/N Software is tracked on individual components that track on a hardware P/N. P/N E/Cs can be used to upload new software revisions installed on the component. The data that composes the P/N Software Configuration can be loaded into the system through two imports via TraxDoc: the ‘Import A/C Authorized Software Configuration’ import creates a master template of the software configuration for the A/C; the ‘Import As Flying Software Configuration’ loads the actual S/Ns installed on the A/C.
When PNSOFTEC is set to Yes, the P/N Software Configuration is tracked using only the P/N Software number and Software Location Identification (SLID). P/N Software is tracked against the A/C (not on individual P/N S/Ns), and A/C Engineering Controls are used to update, revise, and track E/C compliances. A Software tab is available in the A/C Type/Series window that allows customers to enter XML reference points (tags) identified from the XML file provided by the A/C manufacturer; these reference points serve as markers during software configuration data imports to build the P/N Software Configuration - only one ‘Import A/C Authorized Software Configuration’ TraxDoc import is required. A Software tab in the Engineering Control window allows customers to specify that when compliance to an E/C is carried out, that P/N Software number gets updated to the latest software revision (similar to the P/N Modify To field for P/N E/Cs). Once the E/C is complied with, the system removes effectivity from the previous P/N Software Configuration and creates and adds effectivity to the new P/N Software Configuration.
For any customer considering changing switch PNSOFTEC to Yes, please contact Trax Support for assistance; any existing P/N Software data will need to be reviewed and Trax may need to provide conversion scripts to restructure the data.
