Examples: Defect DeferralThrough the Multi Company functionality, MELs are linked to specific companies in the system. This restricts the use of one company's MEL as a reason for deferral of Defect Reports related to a second company's aircraft. In this example, a user first attempts to defer a Defect Report using an MEL that is not effective to the company that owns the affected aircraft. After the system rejects that attempt, the user selects an MEL that is effective to the company owning the aircraft, and the system allows the creation of the Defect Report. The user creates an MEL for the selected Type/Series under the 'COMP-A' Company Profile by selecting the appropriate record from the MEL Master Selection window. After specifying all the necessary information, the MEL is saved by selecting the Save button. This MEL can now be used to defer Defect Reports for any aircraft under the specified Type/Series that are owned by Company A. However, the user first attempts to defer a Defect Report for aircraft that is owned by the 'COMP-B' company. A hard warning rejects the deferral and prompts the user to use a different MEL number. The user then attempts to defer a Defect Report that affects a 'COMP-A'-owned aircraft. The system accepts this deferral. |
