Control Panel

The Control Panel allows the system administrator to specify what items (windows, buttons, prints, etc) appear in the Security Explorer (via System Administration/ Explorer/ Security Explorer). When these items are visible in the Security Explorer, the system administrator can grant/deny security privileges and control users security profiles.

To ensure the applicable security options are made available in the Security Explorer, the system administrator should review the Control Panel to ensure the proper settings have been set up for both general system security and wall password security.

Via System Administration/ Update/ Control Panel, a list of system modules and applications (eMobility/Web Apps) appear.

Select into a module to access the program details. In the following example the user selects into the Technical Records module.

The following options are available in this window:

Select the category for the new entry:

Explorer - A window that lists categorical information where users can assign functionality (i.e. security, authorization, etc.) to employees, codes, transactions, etc.

Print - A window used to generate print documents. This information cannot be created, edited, or updated.

Query but_Query - A window where users can enter information to view details but cannot create, edit, or update the information.

Update but_Update - Used to enter, create, or update all types of information, transactions, orders, etc. Most windows are categorized as Update windows.

The path that will open the application.

Open As New Browser checkbox

Select the checkbox if what is being added is a Windows Application.

Web Enabled checkbox

Select this checkbox to make the selected window accessible in the Security Explorer, thus allowing the administrator to grant/deny users security privileges.

Web Print Selection button

The Web Print Selection button is used to access the available print options for the selected Print module. When selected, administrators can enable/disable prints by selecting/deselecting the Web Display checkbox beside each print. When the Web Display checkbox is selected, the print is accessible in the Security Explorer, thus allowing the administrator to grant/deny users security privileges. This button is only available for Prints. For more information refer to the Web Print Selection Button.

From the Technical Records module, the user selects into 'A/C Actual Flights' and the system displays the following window with possible security options:

The following options are available in this window:

Title

Title of the module.

Sub Detail Title

Name of the tab in the module.

Window

Actual name in eMRO of the window.

Activate Security checkbox

Check the Activate Security checkbox to require security privileges to this item. If checked, the item will appear in the Security Explorer and users must be granted/denied security privileges for the particular item.

Note: The Web Enabled checkbox must also be selected for the item to appear in the Security Explorer.

Wall checkbox

Select this checkbox in order to activate wall security for this item in the Wall by Program and Employee Wall Password Add options, via the Security Explorer. Wall security is an additional layer of security protection for specific transactions. Depending on system configuration and user login method, when wall security is activated and granted to the user, when that user logs in to the application they will have access to the item controlled by wall security. If the user is not granted security to an item controlled by wall security, when that user logs in to the application they will not have access to the item. For additional information, refer to Wall Passwords via the System Administrator training manual.

Additional checkboxes

Additional non standard checkboxes may appear in the window. In the above screenshot, the A/C Type Series Control checkbox allows to specify if security privileges will be granted/denied at the A/C Type/Series level (selected) or if access will be automatically granted for all A/C Type/Series (deselected).

Web Enabled checkbox

Select this checkbox to make the selected window accessible in the Security Explorer, thus allowing the administrator to grant/deny users security privileges.

Note: The Activate Security checkbox must also be selected for the item to appear in the Security Explorer.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

As shown in the above screenshot, the Activate Security and Web Enabled checkboxes are selected for 'Delete Button'. Because both checkboxes are selected, the 'Delete Button' option is available in the Security Explorer, where security privileges can be granted/denied to users.

From the Control Panel, the Web Enabled checkbox is now deselected for 'Delete Button'.

And the 'Delete Button' option is no longer available in the Security Explorer.

Both the Activate Security and Web Enabled checkboxes must be selected to see the item appear in the Security Explorer. If either the Activate Security or Web Enabled checkbox is deselected for an item, that item will not be visible in the Security Explorer.

Before deselecting the Activate Security or Web Enabled checkbox for an item, be aware that the system will behave differently for users that were either granted or denied security before the checkboxes changed.

When the Activate Security and Web Enabled checkboxes are both selected, the security item will be visible in the Security Explorer window and users can be granted/denied access.
