Lock/Unlock Functionality

Throughout the system there are built-in features that help prevent data from being duplicated by blocking multiple users from editing/updating the same records at the same time. Windows, data, and procedures that have been set in motion can be locked to other users as a means of protecting the integrity of said records. This functionality helps keep track of components, authorizations, and work floor duties.

For instance, if two users are trying to edit the same Repair Order record at the same time, the user who accessed the Repair Order after the first user will not be allowed to edit the record. This only happens if the very same record is selected at the same time.

Many of these locks can be unlocked by supervisors by selecting the Unlock button for that particular record. See below list for more information.

The following are the main examples of this functionality in the system.

The following information/options are available in this window:
_____________________________________________________________________________________

A/C Hold

Upon placing an A/C on Hold, via A/C Registration Change, if multiple users are attempting to conduct this action, the following users will be prevented from repeating the action with the "In Use" hard warning.

Manual Issue button (Inventory Transaction)

Once a serialized part has been manually issued from inventory to a W/O or Aircraft, that part cannot be reserved for any other W/O. Once the batch is issued, the status for that serialized part in Inventory Transaction becomes Pending Technical Records. This status indicates, for example, that the part must either be installed onto an aircraft or Returned to Stock (RTS) manually before being available for use in Inventory. While in this status, when the Manual Issue button is selected in the Inventory Transaction window, a warning prevents users from proceeding. For more information refer to the Manual Issue Button via the Inventory Training Manual.

Picklist Creation

If one user attempts to view/edit a Picklist record that is currently being viewed/edited by another user, the following warning will prevent the second user from proceeding. This also applies to the Picklist Supervisor window.

eMRO-Lock-picklist

Note: From the Picklist Creation, Informational tab, the In Use checkbox indicates that the Picklist is currently 'In Use'. When the Picklist is marked as 'In Use', the user who has the Picklist locked will be listed to the right of the checkbox. The Unlock Picklist but_UnLock_eMRO button from the Informational tab is also available when the Picklist is in use. These features are also available in the Picklist Supervisor, Informational tab.

Note: This button is security-controlled via Inventory/ Update/ Picklist Creation/ Picklist Unlock. For more information, refer to the Security Explorer.

Picklist Issue button (Inventory Transaction)

If one user attempts to issue a Picklist record that is currently being issued by another user, a warning will prevent the second user from proceeding.

Defect Reports

Note: The Unlock Defect but_UnLock_eMRO button in the General tab allows the user to access and update the Defect Report in the event that the Defect Report record has been locked in error.

Note: This button is security-controlled via Technical Records/ Update/ Defect Report/ Defect Unlocked Button. For more information refer to the Security Explorer.

Install/Removals (A/C P/N Transaction)

Two different users cannot complete an Install/Removal transaction for the same batches in the A/C P/N Transaction window at the same time. If a Batch is being installed or removed from the A/C P/N Transaction window and connection to the database is lost or if another user attempts to access the same Batch from this window, the record will be locked.

From the Inventory Transaction and Inventory Supervisor windows, Batches that are in use (or locked) will contain the Unlock but_UnLock_eMRO button. When this button is selected, the Batch will be unlocked and available in the A/C P/N Transaction window.
