eMRO vs TRAX Differences

The main difference between eMRO and TRAX is the programming language used to create and maintain each application. TRAX was built using PowerBuilder, while eMRO was built using Java EE, HTML5. The benefit of Java EE is that eMRO can be utilized via web browser.

  • Users must select the title of fields (blue hyperlink) to access Drop Down Selection windows.

  • Double-click selections from Drop Down Selection windows.
  • Drag and Drop functionality in windows such as Authorization Groups.
  • When searching for Master data (P/N, E/C, T/C, Employee, Vendor, Location), users must enter the first alphanumeric character for search results to appear.
  • When right clicking into the search field for Master data, results will appear automatically in Drop Down Selection windows.
  • An Excel button is available to export search result data to an excel file.
  • The Save Template in Excel Format button can be found in every import window allowing the user to view the excel template to import data.
  • A Save button is available to export search result data to multiple formats.

  • Sub Function buttons, or buttons with downward pointing arrows, have replaced 'Multi buttons'.

  • Multi buttons store additional buttons in Trax such as the Interchangeable button via P/N Master.
  • Multi-Company functionality is not controlled by a switch. It is always in effect. (Non multi-company operators will just have their one company listed.) Available for all operators (not just Enterprise level).
  • Can create user-specific Company filters via User Security. This limits the Companies a user has access to.
  • Currencies, with their Exchange Rates, created to be Company-specific in Tran Code. Primary Currency no longer designated through switch, but through Company Profile.
  • COMPANYMULTI switch controls Multi-Company functionality.
  • Over 1,000 switches in Trax.
  • Users can be added to multiple Authorization Groups at once.

  • Print Selection Button, via Control Panel allows us to hide some prints from users. Unchecked entries in that window are not visible in the Security Explorer.

  • Web Enabled Button, via Control Panel allows us to hide switches from users. Unchecked entries in that window are no visible in the System Configuration Explorer window.

  • When exporting a Stylesheet via the Export button, TraxDoc Explorer tab, the system opens the source code of the stylesheet in a separate tab. The source code must be saved to another location before it can be exported from the TraxDoc Explorer.
  • Stylesheets can be exported directly from TraxDoc by selecting the Export button via the TraxDoc Explorer tab.
  • Users can export customized Stylesheets per Company via the Company Profile.
  • Only one generic Stylesheet can be exported via the Company Profile. This Stylesheet must be used for ALL Company Profiles in the system.
  • Vendor Analyzer button (from the Requisition Management and Buyer Queue windows) is NOT available.

  • Employee Master, Mailing Address and Shipping tabs are not available in eMRO.
  • Employee Master, Mailing Address and Shipping tabs are available in TRAX.
  • The Create Task Card from Traxdoc Button via the Task Card window is not supported in eMRO.
  • The Create Task Card from Traxdoc Button via the Task Card window can be used to create Task Cards from a specific TraxDoc of choice.
  • Wall Password is recognized at the login screen of eMRO. The user enters their Group username, selects the Use Wall Authentication checkbox, then enters their unique Wall Password. All options they have access to will be available once logged on, and their name will be listed in the main toolbar. When they save a transaction that required their Wall Password in TRAX, that Wall Password will be recognized from their login.
  • Wall Password is recognized once a Wall protected transaction is saved through the Wall Password popup. The user logs in with the Group username and password, then enters their unique Wall Password when a Wall protected transaction is saved.
  • The Wall Password-protected transactions list is not the same as in TRAX. For example, the Explorer windows are not eligible for the Wall Password functionality. Additionally, each button in the Inventory Transaction window is eligible for Wall Protection. To review the Wall Password eligible windows and transactions, refer to the options listed in the Wall by Program window via the Security Explorer.
  • The Wall Password-protected transactions list in TRAX includes options that are not included in eMRO. TRAX also does not have certain options that are only available in eMRO.
