The New Item button allows users to generate a new Defect Reports window with Item numbers sequentially created from the previous Defect entered via the New Detail button or the New Express button.

This button is security controlled via Technical Records/Update/Defect Report/Defect Report, General tab. For more information refer to the Security Explorer via the System Administration Training Manual.

The Defect Type, Defect, Item and A/C in the General Tab and the MDDR number from the Defer Tab will carry over.

Note: When this button is selected for a Defect Type that has the Auto Create Defect checkbox selected in the Defect Type tran code window, the Defect and Item fields are grayed out until the New Item is saved. This prevents users from changing the Defect or Item number. Once saved, the Defect/Item fields are updated accordingly.
