Shop W/O Reservation Control

Following creation of the Shop Work Order, any materials or labor that is required for the work can be automatically reserved. The system can generate Picklists for parts and labor that are required to complete the Shop Work Order. Picklists will be generated only for the parts on Task Cards that are on that Shop Work Order. The Picklists will then be issued to the Shop Work Order and then associated costs allocated to that work. The following steps are involved in the Shop Work Order Reservation Control process.

  1. Via Engineering/ Update/ Task Card - The Task Card is created. Parts requirements are linked to the Task Card. The parts on the Task Card will be the parts that appear on the Picklist. Please refer to the Engineering manual for additional information regarding creating a Task Card and placing parts.
  2. Via Shop/ Update/ Shop Work Order - The Shop Work Order is created.
  3. Via Shop/ Update/ Shop Work Order - Following creation of the Shop Work Order, any materials or labor that are required for the work can be automatically reserved. The time of reservation will depend on company policy. For example, a heavy maintenance check may be reserved one month in advance, while a light maintenance check may be one week in advance. The Picklist is created for the Work Order using the Picklist but_picklist_small button. The parts on the Task Card will be the parts that appear on the Picklist. When the Picklist but_picklist_small button is used, Picklists for any Sub-Work Orders associated with the currently selected Work Order will be automatically created.
  4. Via Inventory/ Update/ Inventory Transaction - The Picklist Issue button is used to issue the Picklist.

The “Back Order Create Flag” will select if the System will create Requisitions for below level P/N's when reserving material for the Shop Work Order. If this is not switched on, the system will only print a list of the “Shortage Items” and the user will then be responsible for ensuring that any parts required are ordered or made available.

A queried Shop Work Order can be accessed through the Select button.
