GSE P/N Controls provide the means of keeping track of component times. Within the system, there is no limit to the number of controls a user can set up, each with its own hard limits.

The P/N Control button allows users to set multiple Time Controls on parts. These Time Controls will apply to each individual unit for the GSE P/N in the system. Time Since New, Time Before Overhaul, Time Since Last Visit, Scrap Life, Weight Check, etc., can all be applied to the GSE P/N. The applicable Time Controls can be set-up in the System Transaction Code option. The system will track each control from setup. When a part is received into the system, these Time Controls will be available for update.

Note: This button is only available for serialized parts.

During a Receiving process in the system, the P/N Control window will appear for the user to update the Serial Number, specific Reset Date and Actuals. GSE P/N Controls can be added as required. However, the Delete button in the P/N Control window is security controlled for your protection.

If the P/N Control System Transaction Code has been set up with Authorization Steps, those steps will require completion during the P/N Control Authorization Process. Once these Authorization Steps have been set up, whenever a GSE P/N is associated with a Control and a part is received into the system, that P/N Control must be authorized (the steps must be ‘Accepted’) via Technical Records/ Explorer/ P/N Control/ P/N E/C Authorization.

Please note the below switch:

• Switch PCPEATHS (P/N Control/ P/N E/C Authorization Steps Only) - When set to Yes, the Authorization Status drop-list will not be visible in the P/N Inventory Control window [Receiving/ Update/ Order Receiving/ Receiving Inspection/ P/N Control Button] when receiving an appropriate part. The drop-list is used to change the Authorization Status of the item (P/N E/C or P/N Control) to: Acknowledge, Authorized, Pending, or Unknown. When set to No, the Authorization Status will be visible in the P/N Inventory Control window. Although the Authorization Statuses cannot be changed at Order Receiving, all P/N E/Cs and P/N Controls can have their Authorization Statuses updated via Technical Records/ Update/ P/N E/C Authorization or P/N Control Authorization. Updating can also be performed via Technical Records/ Explorer/ P/N Control /P/N E/C Authorization.

Note: There is security available that can be applied to the P/N Control button.

When users apply a Control to a GSE P/N, it will apply to every Serial Number on the system (and every new one that arrives). If the limitation is changed here, then again, it will change every limitation for that GSE P/N on the system unless overridden.

For Hard Time Control of the Serial Numbers, a Schedule can be entered for the control; this can be one or many parameters depending on the requirement. These will be used in the A/C Planning Query [Planning/ Query/ A/C Planning Query] to calculate when the part is due for removal (if fitted to an aircraft) or by P/N Control Query (for Repairs).

Time Controls can include any of three factors: the Control (TSN, TSO, etc.), the A/C, and the Position. All three factors need not be included in every control. However, the combination of factors that can be created must maintain hierarchy.
