Consumable Kit - Financial Behavior, via P/N Category

The following P/N Category transaction code is flagged as a "Consumable Kit." When the Consumable Kit checkbox is selected, it allows kits to consist of expendable parts only. The use of this transaction code changes the financial behavior in the system since consumable kits do not require a serial number and therefore do not generate a fixed asset record. Consumable kits are non-repairable and when issuing transactions are performed, the issued kit exits inventory permanently. The Transaction history remains in the system through Inventory Transaction History Query.

Scenario 1:

This scenario will display how consumable kits are treated in the system during the building, reserving and picklist issuing transactions in the system. The consumable kit consists of expendable parts only.

After creating main P/N 'R0005891', select the Kit button to create all Next Lower Kit P/Ns. A consumable P/N was placed as a NLK onto main kit 'R0005891.'

Note: All NLK P/Ns must not be of the same P/N Category as the main P/N (e.g., Consumable Kit). Otherwise, the system will present a hard warning stating that the P/N may not be placed on a Consumable Kit.

Note: The P/N Kit window will behave differently for parts with a P/N Category Transaction Code flagged as 'Consumable Kit'. The system will only allow expendable P/Ns to be placed as a next lower kit.

Select the Build Multi Kit button to build multiple consumable kits.

A total of '3' consumable kits were created for the following 'FLL' location. The Multi Kit Print will display a list of all sub-kit parts.

Note: The Build Multi Kit window will behave differently for parts with a P/N Category Transaction Code flagged as 'Consumable Kit'. The system will allow the assemblage of consumable kits.

Picklist '145310' was created for consumable kit P/N 'R0005891.' The consumable kit part is now reserved and ready to be issued with all sub-kit parts.

Note: The Picklist Creation and Picklist Issue window will behave differently for parts with a P/N Category Transaction Code flagged as 'Consumable Kit'. The system will allow the reservation and issue of consumable kits.

Select the Picklist Issue button to issue the reserved multi kit from inventory.

After entering the appropriate information, the following Picklist Print is displayed with all delivery and P/N information.

Note: At the point of issue, consumable kits that are sent out will no longer be tracked in inventory. To view the consumable kit's history, refer to Inventory Transaction History Query via the Inventory Training Manual.

Kit Receiving:

At the receiving of a consumable kit P/N, the system will receive the order into the system without designating a serial number. This facilitates the process of managing consumable kits in the system.

Create a Purchase Order for main kit P/N 'R0005891.'

Input all pertinent information related to the order.

P/N 'R0005891' was received into inventory without a serial number.

Scenario 2:

Scenario 2 will display the building and the disassembling of a consumable kit. Consumable kits that are disassembled completely, do not have the option to be later rebuilt or have a single part removed as unserviceable to be swapped or repaired since all sub-kit parts are expendables.

Consumable P/Ns were placed as NLK onto the main consumable kit 'R0005891.'

Note: All NLK P/Ns must not be of the same P/N Category as the main P/N (i.e., Consumable Kit). Otherwise, the system will present a hard warning stating that the P/N may not be placed on a Consumable Kit. All NLKs must be expendable parts only.

Select the Build Multi Kit button to build multiple kits (qty: 4) in inventory transaction.

In Inventory Transaction, main kit P/N 'Z0188800' has an available quantity of '4'. Select the Break All button to break the consumable kit.

Proceed to enter the W/O number and quantity to break the consumable kit including sub-kit parts.

In the Inventory Detail Transaction History window, main kit P/N 'Z0188800' has Build/Multi-Kit and Break/Kit transaction recorded therefore the consumable kit has completely been disassembled.

Note: Consumable kits may not be rebuilt nor will the system allow a individual NLK part number to be removed from the kit.
