Set Up (APU) Part in P/N Master

Create the APU or find the specific APU.

For additional information regarding setting up new parts, please refer to the Settings chapter of this course.

Click on the Save button. Click on the Technical Engineering tab, and select the APU radio button.

The Hours Factor and Cycles factor fields can be filled if required.

Hours Factor

Used to calculate a ratio of component hours in relationship to total A/C hours. For example if a user enter 0.50 for APU parts, then for every A/C hour, the APU accumulates .5 of an hour.)

The Technical Records/APUREAD (APU Reading Time Control Definition) switch (via System Administration/Explorer/System Transaction Configuration) controls how the Hours Factor and Cycles Factor fields operate. The following is the definition of the switch.

All APUs must be defined as such via Settings/ Update/ P/N/ Technical Engineering tab/ APU radio button. The appropriate time control for that APU must also be defined via Settings/ Update/ P/N/ P/N Control button.

If set to Yes, APU readings will be updated via the Technical Records/ Update/ P/N APU Reading option. Specify the P/N Control (TSN, TSO, etc.) that will store the hours and cycles for the APU in the Config Other field. Note that the P/N APU Reading option will not be available if this switch is set to NO.

If set to No, all APU hours and cycles will update according to values entered in the Hours Factor and Cycles Factor fields (Settings/Update/P/N / Technical Engineering Tab) of the APU part.

Cycles Factor

Used to calculate a ratio of component cycles in relationship to total A/C cycles. For example if a user enters 0.50 for APU parts, then for every A/C cycle, the APU accumulates .5 of a cycle.)

Note: Remember that only the control defined in the APUREAD switch will be necessary for the P/N APU Reading option to be used.
