Flight Information, via Work Order Detail, General Tab

The Flight field allows the user to link a flight record to the aircraft associated to the Work Order.

This information is set up via the W/O Category Transaction Code.

This field is security controlled via Production/ Update/ W/O/ WO Flight. For additional information, refer to the Security Explorer via the System Administration Training Manual.

In the following example, W/O Category PDSC will be used.

Flight Information

Flight

The flight associated to the aircraft. The display of this field is dependent on the Link Flight Records field, via the W/O Config window of the W/O Category Transaction Code. For additional information, refer to the WO Config but_wo_config_button button, via the W/O Category Transaction Code of the Production Transaction Code Manual.

When the Link Flight Records checkbox is selected, the Flight field will appear italicized on the Work Order Header, General tab, and the user is able to click into the field and access the drop down menu. Once a flight is selected and saved, the following information will be displayed:

  • The Published Scheduled Departure Date and time
  • The A/C Tail Number
  • The origin and destination

When the Link Flight Records checkbox is deselected, the Flight field will appear in regular text and the user will be unable to access the drop down menu. The Flight information may be entered manually.

If the Flight field is available and there are no flights for the aircraft, the text below the flight field will display, 'No Flight Record.'

The following soft warning will appear if:

  • the flight entered manually does not exist in the system
  • the Work Order is saved without a Flight selected

If the flight selected does not match the aircraft of the Work Order, the following error will be displayed:

If the selected Flight record is already associated to another W/O with the same W/O Category, the following informational prompt will appear. This prompt also indicates the W/O associated to the Flight and that W/O's current Status.

Setup:

From the PDSC Transaction Category Code, select the WO Config but_wo_config_button button.

The system displays the PDSC WO Config window. The Link Flight Records checkbox is selected for the PDSC Transaction Code:

Select into the Flight field:

The records in the Drop Down are sorted by aircraft and then by date (ascending from the oldest date to future dates). The flights will include records starting 24 hours prior to current date/time and going forward into the future.

The information in the Drop Down Selection window can be sorted by:

  • A/C
  • Flight
  • Origin
  • Destination
  • ETOPS only aircraft

The Drop Down displays schedule flights based on Published Scheduled Departure Date for all aircraft:

Select into the Flight field. Notice that the A/C field is not populated.

The Drop Down Selection window displays flights for all aircraft.
